Abstract
The recent discussions on the role of Medicine in society, have shown a huge complexity in adequating the new references of Higher Education to medical education. The international paradigms for medical education are being remodeled in order to fit the huge technological development with the requirements for global education of health professionals, where the area of humanities is progressively growing.
As a new paradigm for medical education for the XXI century, the model of competences is showing as the more adequate. The pedagogical model has to be innovative and (a) inspired in the work model of research groups; (b) strongly based in collaborative practice; (c) based in professional culture; (d) enhanced by valuing experiential dimensions.
This work presents the perspectives of new scenarios of educational strategies, the (re)definition of teacher roles and the new revolution in Medicine, focusing the duality of technology and humanities as an attitudinal resource in professional education towards the acquisition of soft skills and transversal competences (humanistic, self-knowledge and critical professional reflection).
