Abstract

The emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome virus - coronavirus 2, responsible for COVID-19 disease, led to a rapid development of molecular and serological methods for its diagnosis. Although the molecular test of respiratory tract samples is the standard diagnostic test, there is a growing interest in the use of serological tests, but there is still limited evidence about them. The authors present two clinical cases in which they exhibit some of the advantages of using the serological test as a complement in the diagnosis of infection by the severe acute respiratory syndrome virus - coronavirus 2, especially in the active cases of COVID-19, which present with negative initial molecular test.
