Abstract
Introduction: Understanding patients' lived experiences and perspectives regarding nursing consultations enables the enhancement of care delivery. Therefore, our objective was to describe and comprehend the inherent characteristics of the experiences of individuals with congenital coagulopathies in managing their lives towards a state of well-being in the health-disease process.
Material and descriptive study: Seven patients attending the respective consultation participated. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and subjected to thematic content analysis.
Results: Data analysis revealed six central themes: Disease Perception, Impact on Personal Life, Decision-making and Self-efficacy, Emotional Experience, Support in the Health-Disease Process, and Hope.
Conclusion: The approach to patients attending consultations for congenital coagulopathies should be holistic, recognizing patients as part of a dynamic system of energy and variable interaction with the environment. As nurses, we should form a partnership between the patient and family/caregiver to negotiate desired outcome goals for health maintenance, rehabilitation, and improvement.
