Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The eyebrow is the most important frontal aesthetic subunit, playing a key role in facial aesthetics and eye protection. Although it is the area of the face less affected by skin cancer, it is the one that poses most challenges in reconstructive surgery.
CASE REPORT: A 71-year-old Caucasian male underwent excision of infiltrative basal cell carcinoma located in the medial third of the right eyebrow and contiguous upper frontal region. The surgical defect was closed with a V-Y advancement pedicle flap based on the orbicularis oculi muscle. There were no postoperative complications. The aesthetic result was quite acceptable, without functional disturbance.
DISCUSSION: The V-Y advancement pedicle flap is one of few procedures used to close surgical defects located on the eyebrow. The technical execution must be careful and requires adequate anatomical knowledge, since only then will it be possible to obtain acceptable aesthetic and functional results.
